The ancient process of firing raku urns involves removing each individual pottery item from the
kiln while the glaze is still hot and molten and placing it in an airtight
container with straw or leaves. The container that then bursts into flames which
transforms the glaze surface into a distinctive, one-of-a-kind pattern and
color combination.
Each piece is hand-thrown by an American master potter and individually glazed. At approximately 216 cubic inches, the Blue Copper Fire Raku Urn will hold the ashes of a person who weighed 216 lbs. or less prior to cremation.
The Blue Copper Fire Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn is a cylindrical urn with a fitted top lid that can be sealed if preferred. Given that ceramic urns are made by hand, they can vary in size and shape as much as 2-3 inches from the dimensions stated.
